Having issues with the Copy To function? If you’re running into an error while trying to copy assignments, pages, files, etc from one course to another, it’s possible that an inactive course is being selected. This is an easy mistake as Canvas is working on fixing the list of courses that appear when using the Copy To function (as of the writing of this article 2/23/21). For some reason, ALL of a user’s past enrolled courses are showing up rather than just the active courses.
A workaround to this issue is to go into the course’s Settings and add something to the Course Code name as an identifier. For the couple of teachers that I was able to help with this issue so far, I added [20/21] to the end of the Course Code name. This way, you can input the last name on the course ex. "Smith [20/21]" into the search bar when looking for the course to copy to.
My Canvas account is the perfect example because I see ALL the courses in the district.
To find my course(s), I typed “Cory [20/21]” which is what is on the tail end of my second course Course Code name.
